Permanent Cosmetics Aftercare Instructions:

Proper care after your procedure is necessary to achieve the best results. Some bruising and swelling is too be expected, but temporary. Since permanent cosmetics is an art and not an exact science some unevenness in color is to be expected. This is why all permanent cosmetics require at least 2 sessions.

Please review the following directions and refer to them as needed.
If during the healing process you have any questions, please contact your technician.

  • For the first 24-hour period ice the area as often as possible to reduce swelling.
  • Sleeping with your head elevated is recommended to alleviate swelling, often associated with facial procedures.

  • Swelling and bruising may occur. This is normal and will subside within (approx) 72 hours.
  • Wash your hands before touching any newly tattooed area. Gently clean with a non-abrasive cleaner and pat dry (do not rub).

  • Use a q-tip to apply a thin coat of A&D 3 times a day for the first 4 days.
  • No makeup is to be applied for 72 hours after any procedure. After this period you can use a face powder (only after applying A&D) to tone down your new tattoo until the healing process is complete.
  • If using any eye or eyebrow pencil sharpen it so it is new.
  • Do not use an eyelash curler on your eye until your eyeliner is completely healed.
  • Purchase new mascara. Do not use your old mascara.
  • Wearing glasses outdoors is recommended to protect new eyeliner/eyebrows from dust and dirt.
  • After a lip procedure, keep lips moist at all times. Avoid spicy, salty /hot foods for 48 hours after the procedure.

  • If using herpes medication continue as prescribed.
  • Some itching at the area of the procedure is to be expected.

  • DO NOT pick, peel or scratch at any scabs in the treated area or it may result in scarring, infection or uneven color.
  • Do not expose your healing skin to direct sunlight, tanning beds, hot tubs, saunas, salt water, chlorinated pools, direct shower spray, hot water, skin creams, ointments or lotions other than what you have been instructed to use for 2 weeks following your procedure.

Long Term Care:

  • Use a good sunscreen to protect your permanent cosmetics on a daily basis. Excess exposure to the sun may alter the color of your tattoo.
  • If you are having a MRI or any other medical procedure, please inform your physician of your tattoo. The pigments used in your procedure are iron oxide based; brighter colors (such as reds) contain some organic pigments.
  • If you donate blood, know that it is a Red Cross policy that you wait (at least) one year after any tattooing procedure before making a donation.
